The holidays are already upon us! Sleigh it isn’t so!

Holiday Events in Coweta County

In Coweta County, we’ve got be-yule-tiful events for elves of all ages, all November and December-long.

If you’re looking for a Claus for celebration, you’ll want to keep reading this guide to all things holly and jolly in our adora-bell communities.

Sleigh the Christmas Card this Year

Make this holiday season unforgettable by taking a magical trip to the North Pole. Better yet, Coweta County!

Capture your festive spirit with a professional photo alongside the man in red himself at the 26th Annual Coweta Christmas event on Saturday, November 9 between 9 am – 3:30 pm for a fun-filled day featuring children’s crafts, festive photo opportunities with Santa, variety of delicious food and drinks and local vendors.

Additionally, bring the kiddos (and even your four-legged friends) for a magical meet-and-greet with Santa Clause at the Christmas at Madras event on Saturday, December 13. First up, capture those priceless smiles during family photos with Santa, followed by a special pet session where your four-legged companions can join in on the holiday magic too! It’s a heartwarming way to kick off the season because nothing says Christmas is quite like a little sparkle, some wagging tails and a visit from Ol’ Saint Nick himself. Check out the Coweta County Parks & Rec Facebook page for sign-ups.

Kick Off Christmas in Newnan

Visit Newnan on Friday, November 21 to take part in the annual Holiday Sip & See. Choose to treat yo’elf or start your holiday shopping as you stroll through the festive streets of downtown Newnan. Step outside of your favorite downtown boutiques to find a night market, live music and food trucks on the square! Be prepared to sing, snack and sip along because hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided from downtown retailers. The festive fun is taking place from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Your presents is requested in downtown Newnan for Santa on the Square, taking place Friday, November 28. Around 6 p.m. guests can expect to see Santa roll through with holiday cheer. He’s traded his sleigh for a red firetruck and is ready to bring the Christmas magic to Newnan! Immediately after Santa’s appearance, the annual Christmas tree lighting will take place in the courthouse square! This is a night of memory-making that you’ll never fir-get.

Continued Christmas Cheer

What’s better than Newnan, “The City of Homes?” The City of Homes during the holidays, of course! If you love wreaths, garland and all things festive decor, there is snow better event for you than the Newnan Christmas Tour of Homes! On Friday, December 5, admire historic homes adorned with holiday spirit as you take part in this classic event.

Celebrate the Holidays in Senoia

On Saturday, December 6, attend the annual Light Up Senoia event featuring a Christmas parade and activities. You’ll be smitten with Senoia when you visit this charming town during the holiday season. From 4 pm to 8:30 pm, experience treemendous fun when you see Santa’s workshop, meet baby reindeer and other festive friends! At 6:30 pm, the parade begins and Christmas cheer abounds. Immediately after, see the Senoia Christmas tree lighting and visit Santa on his sleigh. Savor every pepmoment as you participate in these holiday activities in Senoia!

The Senoia Candlelight Tour of Homes is a sure way to put yourself in the Christmas spirit. Take a self-guided tour through some of the most magical homes in Senoia from 4 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, December 14. Come out with all your jingle ladies or make this event a date night with the one you love snow.

Healthy, Wealthy & Wise Weekend Plans

What Is Vitamin T?

Some people swear by Vitamin C, others by Vitamin D. But here in Coweta County, we believe in Vitamin T: Travel. Side effects may include spontaneous smiles, soul-deep sighs and a craving for seconds of everything you discover. And the best part is you don’t have to wander far to feel the benefits.

Ready to pop your daily dose? Your Vitamin T Prescription is Ready!

Unplug in Nature

Way down yonder in Coweta County, “outside” isn’t just a place, it’s an experience. The air is fresher, the skies stretch wider and time itself seems to slow down. Step onto the shaded trails of Chattahoochee Bend State Park and you’re stepping into serenity. The rustle of leaves becomes your soundtrack and the steady rhythm of your footsteps your meditation.

At nearly 3,000 acres, “Chatt Bend” is less of a park and more of a playground for peace-seekers and thrill-chasers alike. There are so many ways to breathe in the beauty and sigh out the hustle and bustle:

  • Hike scenic river-side and forest trails: we’ve got 12 miles of ‘em
  • Camp your way: unwind under the stars in a tent, roll in with an RV or cozy up in our cute cabins
  • Float along: boat and kayak ramps help your troubles wash away
  • Join the fun: ranger-led programs and seasonal events connect you with the land and community

So, lace up and paddle on. No matter how you explore, Coweta County’s great outdoors is your open invitation to wander, wonder and walk away renewed.

Slow Down & Soak It In: Spas, Self-Care & Serenity

When it’s time to truly unwind, Coweta County offers the kind of pampering that goes beyond skin-deep. When self-care comes cloaked in candlelight and calming scents, you’ll let out a sigh of relief you didn’t realize you’d been holding in. From full-service day spas to boutique wellness studios, Coweta County is full of little havens designed to help you look good, feel better and glide out the door a little lighter than when you walked in.

Need something less hands-on? Wellness rituals like float therapy, infrared sauna sessions, red light therapy and more are worth pressing pause for. Sometimes wellness means movement, and sometimes it means mindfulness. In Coweta County, you’ll find beautiful ways to do both.

Plumyumi

A cozy, full-service spa providing facials and body polishes that feel as indulgent as they sound. Every detail, from candlelight to calm vibes, invites you to settle in and fully let go.

Emily’s Skin Care

This award-winning downtown Newnan spa offers an array of medical spa services, as well as soothing massages and smoothing facials. Emily’s Skin Care has built a loyal following, and it only takes one visit to see why.

The Aqua Head Spa & Beauty

True to its name, this beauty-forward spa specializes in the aesthetics: facials, lashes, brows and laser treatments are paired with the spa’s signature mantra, “Where soul meets body.” It’s high-tech care with a holistic heart.

Sanctuary Float Center

Slip into silence with float pods, infrared saunas, cold plunges and red-light therapy designed to refresh the body and mind. Pair a couple of services or savor just one; either way, it’s pure bliss.

Chalȧrosi Float Center

With a name that means “relaxation” in Greek, this wellness escape delivers on the translation with float therapy, saunas, massages and even chiropractic care. A single treatment feels indulgent; a full circuit feels transformative.

Feed Your Creativity

We’re firm believers that creativity isn’t just a hobby, it’s a workout for your imagination and an exercise in mindfulness. Paint, stitch, sculpt: if it involves making something with your own two hands, Coweta County has a class (and a kiln) for it. From watercolor brushstrokes to muddy masterpieces, these spots prove that playtime is vital to vitality.

Corner Arts Gallery & Studio

Part gallery, part classroom, part event spot, Corner Arts invites ages 3 to 103 to dabble in watercolor, ceramics, sewing and more. Whether you are looking to gather your gal pals for a private sip and paint class, need an inspiring afternoon with your kiddos or simply looking for a break that leaves you brighter, bolder and a little paint-splattered this is the space for you.

Mud Haven Pottery

Housed in a charming 1930s building, Mud Haven Pottery invites beginners and seasoned makers to roll up their sleeves and get muddy. With single classes and multi-week courses in throwing and hand-building, it’s a wheel-y good way to unwind.

Nourish Your Body

Some adventures feed your soul while others feed your stomach. Lucky for you, Coweta County offers both. Nourish your body and delight your taste buds with vibrant farm-to-table dining and health-forward cafés. These local flavors prove that eating well is its own kind of wellness ritual.

Amble the farmers markets for just picked-produce and artisan goods, then mix it up with a tasting of some of the finest oils and vinegars around at Bold Soul. Of course, if you’re feeling peckish but still want to get your stroll on, dash into TLC Market for locally-made and seasonally-perfect grab-and-go offerings.

Bold Soul

This specialty shop doubles as a tasting room for olive oils and vinegars, making it feel less like shopping and more like snacking your way to good health. Call it the Mediterranean diet, Coweta-style.

Rock Salt Milk Bar

This treat shop is going to rock your socks off. Scratch-made with the freshest ingredients – think free-range eggs, organic cane sugar and real butter! Rock Salt Milk Bar creates small batch ice cream with big, beautiful, all-natural flavors. Treat yourself to something you can feel good about.

Whimzical Cafe

With fresh sandwiches, colorful salads and nutritious smoothies, Whimzical Cafe serves up harmonious helpings. Your meditation mantra will go from “om” to “yum” in just one bite.

TLC Market

Locally sourced and farm-fresh, TLC serves up a delicious mix of fresh-made sandwiches, grab-n-go meals and seasonal items sourced from local farms and bakers or made in-house daily. It’s true southern cooking: good for the soul.

The Board Room

Consider it the art of balance–literally. Learn how to stack fresh cheeses, artisanal meats and dried fruits into boards that feed both your body and your inner foodie.

Retail Therapy, the Local Way

Who are we kidding? Sometimes the best boost doesn’t come from a spa or a smoothie, it’s wrapped in tissue paper and tucked into a cute little bag. In Coweta, shopping small feels a lot like self-care thanks to artisan candles, handcrafted soaps, stylish wellness wear and one-of-a-kind finds that make both your closet and your conscience happy.

Every purchase does more than spark a little joy; it strengthens the local economy and supports our local makers, dreamers and doers. That’s why retail therapy here goes beyond the quick dopamine fix. It’s a little lift for you and a lasting boost for the community.

Want to discover more locally made finds? Explore, experience and celebrate the best of our community’s craftsmanship with our Curiously Crafted in Coweta blog.

Plan Your Wellness Weekend in Coweta

“Vitamin T isn’t found in a bottle. It’s found in Coweta – where travel meets total wellness.”

Whether it’s a solo escape to clear your head, a girls’ trip full of laughter or a romantic retreat for two, Coweta has the perfect mix of rest, recreation and rejuvenation. With benefits like melting away stress, strengthening connections and recharging your spirit, Vitamin T is the perfect supplement to any busy week. Take A Trip to Coweta this October!

Experience the Fright-tastic Fanfare of The Walking Dead

If you watched a single episode of AMC’s 11-season zombie apocalypse television show The Walking Dead, then you’ll love getting a behind-the-scenes peek into the massively successful production. Fans of the Emmy-winning horror drama may know that much of the show was filmed in Senoia and in other parts of Coweta County, and while you can visit any time of year, there’s something that’s extra spine-tingling about visiting in the fall. Popular film locations to check out include “The Commonwealth Wall” or “Outpost 22” near the Senoia Farmer’s Market at 40 Travis Street in Senoia; town of Alexandria located at the bottom of Mainstreet in Senoia (Note: This is a private neighborhood but you can easily view it from across the railroad tracks); and the “Away With You” wall at 11 Church Street in Grantville.

More Fright-tastic Fun

After your filming tour, step into  The Woodbury Shoppe in Senoia. There you’ll find exclusive gear, licensed products and merchandise, collectibles, and iconic props! Take home your favorite souvenir and own a piece of the apocalypse.

For the full Walking Dead experience, book a tour with the Georgia Locations Scout or Water Tower Tours, both of whom offer guided tours (on wheels or heels) where you will discover little-known information about the making of the show.

Attend an Iconic Fall Event

One of the best things about fall is that it is finally cool enough to enjoy outdoor festivals. Coweta County takes full advantage of the mild temperatures by orchestrating a full fall calendar of special events.

The fun kicks off on October 3 with Oktoberfest, a beer-tasting event and fall festival celebration hosted in the Downtown Newnan Square.

As Halloween creeps closer, the festivities kick up a notch with a special Halloween-themed edition of Alive After Five on October 17. The night includes arts, crafts, kids’ activities, music, food, drinks and artisan vendors in Senoia. For this edition, there will be special fall cocktails, candy apples and a dog costume contest.

On October 25 folks can come back to downtown Newnan for the Spirits & Spice Festival from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The fun continues with a chili cook-off, food and drink specials, a craft market and more children’s activities.

Eerie Events All October Long

For an eerie night out, that may deliver a few jump scares, secure a ticket for the Oak Hill Cemetery Tour. Tours start at the McRitchie-Hollis Museum on October 17 and October 25 and last between 60 to 90 minutes. Take a guided tour through the cemetery where you will hear ghost stories and urban legends, and you may even earn a visit from the dearly departed. The price of your ticket includes the guided cemetery tour, museum tour, live music and an Oink Joint BBQ Dinner. The VIP tickets include all aforementioned plus special seating, treats and admittance to the Ghosts & Ghouls Ball on October 24 at 7:00pm.

For the ladies, the 5th Annual Witches Boutique Crawl takes place on October 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. During the free event, downtown Newnan hosts a ladies’ night out where shops and restaurants offer treats, specials, sales, raffle prizes and more. Just be sure to wear your best witch’s costume.

Knock Back a Fall Brew

If you want to cheers to a fearsome fall, there are several places to get a seasonal sip in Coweta County. During the day, Leaf & Bean in downtown Newnan is all about the coffee, tea and pastries, but at night it transforms into the Lounge at Leaf & Bean, an after-hours bar specializing in craft cocktails. Try the Midnight Brew-Tini or Caramel Chaos.

Beer lovers should head to Line Creek Brewing Co. to try their limited edition Scary & Fright Pumpkin Pie Ale, a 7.5% AVB ale that’s brewed with pumpkin, ginger, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg.

For the ultimate cozy vibes, visit Pearl & Pine Brewery in Senoia and snag a spot by one of their outdoor firepits.

Get Your Spooky on in Coweta County

Whether you’re leaning into the pumpkin spice of it all or you’re into a little more frightful fun, Coweta County has you covered for the most unforgettable fall vibes. Begin planning your eerie escape by clicking here today.

Location, location, location

Our charismatic county has been the backdrop for more than 100 small-screen and blockbuster titles, ranging from horror to heartfelt. When production wraps, the fans roll in to experience all their favorite on-screen moments in real life (zombies optional). So, join us as we tour some of film and television’s most memorable sets, and you’ll discover how curiously camera-ready we are.

Grantville

Don’t let the size of this town deceive you. Grantville may be a small stop off Highway 29, but it takes its leading roles very seriously. As you walk through downtown, you might begin to catch glimpses of the undead. That is, scenes from The Walking Dead. Home to several key sets, including Rick’s fictional hometown and Morgan’s season three apartment, Grantville is prominently featured throughout the series. Remnants of filming can still be seen at 18 Church St., where “Away With You” is scrawled on the brick wall.

In 2023, the community was given new life when filming began for The Color Purple. Four decades after Georgia native Alice Walker wrote The Color Purple and Steven Spielberg adapted it into a major motion picture, the beloved story takes to the screen again, with Grantville setting the scene. Throughout downtown, building facades were decorated to reflect the aesthetics of the late 19th-century. Not one to be typecast, Grantville can transform itself for the past, present and the post-apocalyptic.

Newnan

Doll house or haunted house? It depends on the role. But one thing is for certain: The Parrott-Camp-Soucy House is one of Newnan’s most iconic addresses. And Hollywood has noticed it, too. Its most famous part was playing the house in The House With The Clock In Its Walls (2018) and is featured front and center on the film’s poster. We cannot confirm or deny if there are actual clocks in any of the walls, but some Newnan residents have reported mysterious ticking sounds from time to time. Other appearances include The Odd Life of Timothy Green (2012) and HBO’s Lovecraft Country series (2018).

Head further into downtown Newnan and Michael Keaton fans will notice some uncanny similarities to scenes from The Founder (2016). Despite being set in 1950s San Bernardino, California, production had to find an alternative place to shoot because modern San Bernardino doesn’t look like it did back in the 1950s. Well, Newnan doesn’t look quite like 1950s San Bernardino either, so the crew got to work. A recreation of the very first octagonal McDonald Brothers restaurant was built in the Coweta County Administration Building’s employee parking lot. It no longer stands today–people have to park, after all–but the short-lived structure was seen as a generally accurate reproduction of the original McDonald’s.

Today, downtown Newnan is far more vibrant than what you’ll see in the film, but don’t be fooled. These very streets were transformed from a charming Southern town into a zombie wasteland for 2009’s Zombieland. Retrace Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson’s steps with a walk down Greenville Street. Their characters scurry southbound from the Broad St. intersection and stop in front of the real-life Newnan Mercantile and Bold Soul Originals, where Woody Harrelson’s character, Tallahassee, blows off some steam by smashing a van’s windows with a baseball bat.

Senoia

Although we like it just as it is, Senoia excels at playing the part of “somewhere else.” Despite taking place in Alabama, Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) was filmed right here in our backyard. Two settings pivotal to the movie’s plot, The Threadgoode house and the iconic railroad bridge, can be seen throughout the film. Located at 204 Bridge Street, the Travis-McDaniel house and the railroad bridge sit right across the street from one another. The home is privately owned, but fans can enjoy it from the street as they walk or drive by to visit another Senoia sensation.

Just two blocks away sits Nic & Norman’s, a laid-back classic pub owned by The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, who plays fan-favorite Daryl Dixon, and prosthetic artist/director Greg Nicotero. It’s no mystery why they chose Senoia as their flagship location: the city was featured throughout the series and was Woodbury, the home of notorious villain, The Governor.

Speaking of famous folks… We don’t need six degrees to get to Kevin Bacon. Two will do just fine. Kevin famously starred as Ren in the original Footloose (1984). The iconic bus race scenes for the 2011 adaptation of Footloose were filmed at the Senoia Raceway. Let’s just say, we’re pretty well connected. (Bonus points: Julianne Hough, who played the part of Ariel in the 2011 version, worked with Kevin in Step Into… The Movies with Derek and Julianne Hough.

Haralson

Just 6.5 miles south of Senoia sits Esco Feed Mills in Haralson. Walking Dead fans will know this one as it was the setting for several key scenes (no spoilers!).

The former feed mill, or The Silo as it’s known in the series, made its debut in season three and was featured in the opening credits onward.

Disclaimer: Esco Feed Mill is private property.

The Fried Pickles with curried mustard are quite a big “dill,” so we recommend starting there. Wind down the evening with a nightcap at Newnan’s very own speakeasy. Just steps from The Cellar and The Bay, The Pharmacy is a secret worth sharing. It’s sultry ambiance, jazzy acoustics and craft cocktails harken back to the Prohibition Era.

Fortunately, no laws need to be broken in order to have a good time.

Morning Libations

Senoia Coffee & Cafe

Your morning doesn’t start until you’ve had a cuppa… or perhaps three. Sample a trio of your choice of coffees at Senoia Coffee and Café with their signature coffee flight. That’s right, a flight without the alcohol yet still plenty of punch. Each mini-pour gives you the opportunity to taste your new brew obsession without all the jitters.

Senoia Farmers’ Market

Stroll through summertime with a cocktail in hand. The fragrant florals, flaky pastries and vibrant booths of Senoia Farmers’ Market will transport you to a scene right out of a movie. And there’s no better accompaniment to the moment quite like a mimosa made with freshly squeezed juice. Or stop by Nic and Norman’s Bloody Mary booth for a bit of hair of the dog.

Doc Brown’s Bourbon Creams

As Georgia’s only seed-to-still distillery, Doc Brown’s takes their bourbon as seriously as their business. And the best part is, you can enjoy a swig (or two) without ever leaving the comfort of your home. Their Bourbon Creams, available for purchase online and shipped to most states, are a rich and creamy complement to your coffee or tea.

The Coffee Bourbon Cream is a year-round favorite and the Peppermint Mocha Bourbon Cream makes every cup a cup of cheer.
